Old Business
------------------
Still time to get in your starting mileage for 2010. See viewtopic.php?f=3&t=174 for the latest log. If you have not reported, please post your entry on that previous thread or get me a message so we can get your start point reading for the 2010 awards.
Dragon Raid 2010 plans in process. Let's get as many people as possible to fill it up this year! See this thread for continuing info: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=161. Also anyone that can help with sponsors - please do!
Ozark Raid in Arkansas this spring, April 23-25, at "The Hub" in Marble Falls, Arkansas. This is a really good riding area and promises to be a great time. See viewtopic.php?f=5&t=43 for more info.
WKRP scooter rides this spring, April 9-11. See http://xylsc.com/wkrp
We decided that we should check that all riders at our group rides should have a motorcycle endorsement on their license. A little more CYA for our litigious society. I started a list for people to verify they have proper licensing. I will bring this list to all meetings to sign up on...
Mike Thompson organized a First Aid class directed towards the motorcycle rider. Date & time: Saturday 13 March 2010, 9am-5pm, Place: University of Rio Grande. There is a thread on the forum for more info. See: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=181
Yours truly has gotten a commitment from Stainless Ride (formerly Epco) for a set of pipes for a door prize at the Dragon Raid. See http://www.stainlessride.com/index.html
New Business
--------------------
Rick reminded us all to be careful out there as we begin the new ride season - look out for road conditions - cold, slippery surfaces and pot holes!
We have decided to schedule introductory rides once a month for new riders wanting to join in the group rides. This ride would depart from Joe's Cycle on Saturday mornings and follow the same pre-planned route to Christianburg (Loretta's Kitchen). Having a single route will allow more people to be able to lead the ride as they are available. Phil has planned the route. We are hoping this will encourage more new riders to join up. It will be a short ride to introduce group riding techniques. The first scheduled date is April 17th. Departure will be between 9:30 - 10:30 am.
We discussed the Rider game 2010 which is "Triumph Go Your Own Way". Rick asked everyone to please edit their first post when adding subsequent photos. Makes it easier to keep track in one place instead of spread out in multiple posts. It was decided that ONLY Cities & Towns names can be used. A few members have started recording the photos. See the thread on the board at: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=206
We still are proposing that leaders of monthly group rides will attend some sort of Ride Leader Training. If you are new to leading the group ride, and want to lead a ride, please get with one of the experienced leaders to go over the things the leader should do to prepare for and execute a group ride.
Bud volunteered to lead the November 2010 group ride. Looking for more volunteers for the the other months...
There is talk of a camping ride this year to the Hawk's Nest area. Keep an eye on the message board for more info
Joey is looking for volunteers to help out when the Triumph demo truck is at the shop - June 25 & 26. Contact Joey to sign up to help lead/follow the groups or help run the grills, etc.
Potpourri
--------------
A reminder - There has been a trend started lately for "impromptu" meetings on Tuesday nights at either The Pub or The Fox & the Hound for a short get together and a couple beers - keep an eye on the message board for postings.
Joey gave us a quick summary of Triumph's plans for new bike models in 2010. Rick posted a summary on this thread: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=236
The next meeting will be Monday, April 12 and will be held at Joe's Cycle Shop again. It is BYOB and pizza will be provided.
As usual, if I screwed up anything or forgot something, please post a correction or addition...
